Brookhouse Hill, Sheffield
Internal reconfiguration + New build
The project involved the refurbishment of the property within Fulwood Conservation Area, demolition of an existing two storey annexe and the construction of a residential annexe in its place within the site. The refurbishment will provide improved living accommodation at all floor levels of the building with additional Utility/ boot room area to the rear, all to meet the needs of the current owner who requires a more family friendly space.
The new layout provides a more open, brighter living space by replacing two existing windows facing the side garden with a double swing door with sidelights opening onto a new veranda with a glazed roof. The removal of internal walls offers a larger better kitchen, dining and living arrangement. A new shared shower room within the roof (second floor) caters to two additional bedrooms accommodated within the existing space dormer spaces.
The two storey annexe was not suitable as living space for the elderly due to the accommodation being split between two floors. Working closely with the client, we designed a ground floor annexe which included an open kitchen, dining and living space with double swing doors on the south end to take advantage of the garden views, a bedroom, bathroom and loft storage space.
