Keats Avenue, Sheffield
Rear extension + Internal reconfiguration
The design included a ground floor rear extension that would increase its floor space by 75%! Having visited the property and carried out the survey for this generous house, we were briefed by the client about their intentions of how they would use it in the future.
The existing ground floor footprint did not match the floor above, with many offshots at different lengths and widths. As part of our proposal for the scheme we created a semi-contemporary symmetrical extension clad in white render with large windows and glazed doors looking onto their impressive garden. All doors and windows were matched to the existing which were also replaced to provide better thermal comfort.
The ground floor works included the demolition of the existing sun room, and removal of the existing sitting room external wall being replaced by a large open kitchen space which faced a new dining and lounge space, all overlooking the garden. The large space was also top light by a feature lantern over the dining area. The existing dining room was converted into a cinema room, and the existing lounge space was converted into a games room in a modern style.
The extensions roof was designed to be accessible from the first floor master bedroom, providing a generous balcony overlooking the garden.
