Garage conversion + Internal reconfiguration
The client wished to create convert the existing garage into a study, and open out the kitchen on the ground floor and convert an existing large bathroom on the first floor into a bedroom and create two additional toilets.
We visited the client to fully understand their brief and aspirations for remodelling their home. Consideration had to be given to the design from a sequencing point of view as the house would still be occupied whilst the building work progressed. The garage floor was raised to allow level access from the kitchen when it was converted into a study, with the inclusion of a new utility room accessed from the kitchen. The wall separating the kitchen and dining room was demolished to create a large open kitchen, dining and living space in an L-shape.
On the first floor a large bathroom was converted into a bedroom, and a new ensuite was created on the stair landing for the master bedroom by demolishing the existing staircase and designing a new staircase which would allow the room required to accommodate the ensuite. An existing store room on the first floor was also converted into a bathroom to be shared by the other two bedrooms on the floor.
We are delighted with the way Maad studio's designs have improved the use of space in our home. Maad studio listened carefully to what we wanted and helped turn our ideas into reality. The builders were able to work easily from the plans.
