The client wished to add an additional bedroom within the loft space of an existing two storey mid-terrace property. Due to the increase in number of rooms and fire escape requirements, we worked closely with building control inspectors to ensure that adequate escape provision was provided by creating a corridor on the ground floor to provide an additional means of escape as required by the fire regulations.
The loft space already had an existing room, and our work included the survey of the space and the design of two bedrooms ensuring that enough space was provided in each room to allow for a single bed, wardrobe and desk space. The road facing room was providing with a new dormer to allow more room for which planning permission was required and we provided the necessary documentation for a successful application.
